How it Works

  1. THIS IS A BRAND-NEW YEAR! Everyone needs to create a BRAND-NEW account. It doesn’t matter if you have participated in this program in the past or not - PLEASE CREATE A NEW ACCOUNT WITH A NEW LOGIN AND PASSWORD. Scroll to the bottom of the page to create your new account by clicking the Get Started button.
  2. Enroll your group *Note: There is a minimum of $1,000 in orders required.
  3. Decide if you are going to allow ordering from others in the community. If you select yes – others within the community can order and pickup directly from your facility. Others within the community can also order donation bundles. You must communicate to all individuals (within your facility and community, if you allow others from the community to order) how the donated vegetable bundles will be distributed. Either your school will receive and deliver (to a charity of your choice) all donated bundles OR you grant permission to Peak of the Market Farm to School to donate them to a foodbank on your facility’s behalf. All community orders will be included in your fundraising total.
  4. Setup your school/daycare/organization General note about each category of fundraiser group: Schools and daycares are provided free delivery of their orders. New this year: Organizations (not a school, not a daycare) MUST pick up their orders (or arrange for a delivery service on their own) from 1200 King Edward Street in Winnipeg, Manitoba. Delivery is NOT provided for organizations.

Start by entering the name of the school, daycare or organization. Include the mailing address and, for schools and daycares only, add the delivery address where the vegetables will be delivered. If you are part of an organization (i.e. non-school/daycare), these groups can only pickup from our 1200 King Edward Street location in Winnipeg, Manitoba. Delivery to organizations (i.e. non-school/non-daycare) is not available. Include the administrator contact information as the main administrative contact for the fundraiser. Also, please include the name and contact information for the person who will be receiving the delivered vegetables on your delivery day. We may need to get a hold of the receiving individual the day of the delivery so this will make it easy to connect with that person.

You MUST select a donation process which indicates how you want to handle the donated vegetable bundles that are purchased AND communicate to all individuals (within your facility and community, if you allow others from the community to order) how the donated vegetable bundles will be distributed. Either your school will, receive and deliver (to a charity of your choice) all donated bundles OR you grant permission to Peak of the Market Farm to School to donate the donated bundles to a foodbank on your facility’s behalf.

Make sure to check “I agree” in order to receive future communication from Peak of the Market and Farm to School.

If you would like to be notified when each order is placed, there is a box to check for that to occur.
  5. Delivery and Pickup dates Once your enrollment has been confirmed, pick your delivery date (schools/daycares) or pickup date (organizations).

We provide free delivery for schools and daycares. Other organizations must select a pickup date (WEDNESDAYS ONLY) from our 1200 King Edward Street facility in Winnipeg.

Online orders close 10 calendar days prior to delivery and pickup dates. delivery date (schools/daycares) or pick up date (organizations) can be changed by editing your delivery/pickup date under your school/daycare/organization info. It can be changed up until the time it is approved. If you want to change it after it has been approved, please contact farmtoschool@peakmarket.com.
  6. Organize your fundraiser Set timelines for participating students/children to promote the fundraiser. Promote your fundraiser throughout the fundraising period. Encourage those who are interested in purchasing vegetables to go online and purchase through your respective fundraising group..

Your sales portal will be active 55 calendar days from your delivery date (for schools and daycares or pickup date for organizations). In actual fact, you will have 45 days to sell vegetables because the portal closes 10 calendar days before your delivery date. For example: You have selected a delivery date of November 30. Your sales portal will open on Thursday, October 6 and your sales portal will close on November 20 at 11:59 pm.
  7. Online ordering Click on shop and add your products to your cart. Check out when ready to pay. Select the Province, School/Daycare/Organization and enter the child’s name that is responsible for your order. If you will be picking up directly from the School/Daycare/Organization, select Support School. Enter billing and payment information and review order.
  8. Ordering bundles for donation Upon signing up for the fundraising program, the administrator must select to either:
    • Choose to have all donated vegetable bundles delivered to your organization directly. When you receive the delivery, you will ensure the donations are then delivered (by you) to a charity of our choice. You agree to communicate this process and procedure directly to your community, so purchasers are aware. Peak of the Market Farm to School is not responsible to communicate how the bundles will be delivered to your purchasers.
    • OR
    • Choose to have all donated vegetable bundles delivered to a food bank of Peak of the Market Farm to School’s choice. Peak of the Market Farm to School will look after delivering the bundles on your organization’s behalf. You agree to communicate this process and procedure directly to your community, so purchasers are aware. Peak of the Market Farm to School is not responsible to communicate how the bundles will be delivered to your purchasers.
  9. SCHOOLS/DAYCARES: Vegetable Delivery On your selected delivery date, the product will arrive at your school/daycare. Schedule your volunteers to unload the vegetables from the delivery truck when it arrives. Vegetables will arrive in 50lb bags. The packages are very heavy. Please enlist volunteers who are able to lift very heavy items. Once vegetables have been unloaded off trucks/vehicles, volunteers will need to sort out the bags of vegetables into Bundles A or B and bagged within the shopping bags provided (one reusable bag per bundle)

The receiving individual as outlined on your signup form will be contacted in the morning or afternoon (depending on the time slot you selected) to give an indication as to the delivery order for that time slot. Due to circumstances beyond our control, exact times cannot be provided but the delivery will occur between 9 am – 3 pm. For planning purposes AM = 9 am – 12Noon and PM = 1 pm – 3 pm.

**Note: The driver is only a courier. They cannot assist in unloading the vegetables due to liability issues. Please ensure you have enlisted volunteers who can help unload heavy items. Having carts or dollys on hand are also helpful as well. ** These are not provided by the delivery truck, driver nor Peak of the Market Farm to School.

Any communication regarding delivery of your order must be done directly with our Farm to School Coordinator, not the delivery truck company/driver. Communication regarding the delivery of your order must be done with the Farm to School Administrator only. Delivery drivers/Carrier companies are NOT responsible for the organization/distribution/or quality of your order. They are there to deliver the product ONLY to an area or drop site they determine meets their Workplace Health and Safety and Liability Guidelines. Any negative communication with the Delivery truck company/driver is deemed unacceptable and will result in a penalty to participate in the Farm to School Program thereafter, for a period of 2 years.
  10. ORGANIZATION: Vegetable Pickup On your preselected WEDNESDAY pickup date, the product will be available for pickup ONLY at our 1200 King Edward Street location between 8 am – 4 pm. Vegetables will be available for pickup in 50lb bags. It is important that you send people who can lift very heavy bags of vegetables. Depending on the amount your organization ordered, you will need to send pickup trucks, vans or large vehicles to transport large quantities of produce. ** Our loading docks are approximately 4 feet high. For ease of loading heavy produce bags, pickup trucks are suggested. Remember: you are transporting large quantities of heavy produce. Please consider this when planning your vehicle and pick up plan. Pick up must be done all at once, so be sure to have ALL the transport vehicles needed and ready before arriving at 1200 King Edward Street. When ALL vehicles have arrived, call the Farm to School administrator at 204-594-1414 to be directed to a delivery door for receiving.

Once you get all the vegetables, reusable shopping bags and recipe cards back to your facility, your volunteers will need to sort out the bags of vegetables into Bundles A or B and bagged within the shopping bags provided (one reusable bag per bundle). See the vegetable bundle assembly process below for details on how to pack each bag.
  11. Vegetable bundle assembly Plan for volunteers to assemble the vegetable bundles for distribution to those who purchased. It is helpful to have an assembly line for each bundle size starting with the included shopping bags (1 bag per order), include a recipe booklet on the bottom, followed by the potatoes and then with the other veggies on top.

BUNDLE A: 2lb carrots, 2lb onions, 5lb potatoes and one recipe booklet
BUNDLE B: 3lb carrots, 3lb onions, 10lb potatoes, 1lb parsnips, one cabbage and one recipe booklet

*Follow current public health guidelines for gathering limits and social distancing when planning out the vegetable assembly process at your school/daycare/organization.
  12. Bundle distribution Distribute the freshly packed vegetable bundles to those who placed orders online.

*Remember some community members will pick up direct from the school/daycare/organization if you allowed community members to order online.
  13. CONGRATULATE your amazing students, children, and volunteers for a successful fundraiser!
